There are signs of The Beatles everywhere in Liverpool. Start off at the Beatles Story in Albert Dock, charting the band’s journey from first meeting to global superstardom and solo careers – complete with a room devoted to Sgt. Pepper’s. Follow in the fab four’s footsteps on the Magical Mystery Tour, taking in sights such as Strawberry Field, Penny Lane and the church where John met Paul. Or for a look inside their childhood homes, see the National Trust tour. And of course, no Liverpool trip is complete without a visit to the Cavern Club where they played 292 times.
There’s even a Sgt. Pepper’s link on the water. Sir Peter Blake, who designed the iconic album cover, also created a ‘dazzle’ design for the Mersey Ferry in April 2015, resulting in a spectacular moving artwork that brings a splash of colour to the river.
